The Three Sisters
This work features the well known Three Sisters at Katoomba, which is a series of spectacular rocky outcrops that tower 600m above the floor of Megalong Valley. The iconic monoliths stand in the centre of the work and are highlighted against the background by their weathered and craggy sandstone shapes. Wherever it can take hold, the often shaded vegetation clings precariously to every possible surface, seemingly oblivious to the sheer cliffs beneath. This foreground is a clear contrast to the sapphire blueness of the ridge and valley beyond, where one can almost smell the vaporised eucalyptus oil and taste the crisp clear air.
