75th Anniversary of the Harbour Bridge
Taken from a ferry as it passed the International Shipping Terminal, the Sydney Harbour Bridge was in celebration mode during its 75th anniversary. The overcast skies had created a greyish chop to the waters in Circular Quay, allowing a warm contrast to flow from the sandstone hues of the breakwater and other buildings. Emerging in the background are the towering north and south granite pylons that support the roadway, which connect the intricate but massive framework of the bridge itself. The play of light bouncing about the steel brought out a unique dusky purple, which evokes a feeling of taciturn majesty.
